Air Ambulance Needs in Central Africa
In the Central African country of Gabon, people are literally dying as they walk or are being carried to hospitals. Others, in complete despair, don’t even bother starting a journey to seek medical help. Lack of adequate infrastructure and transportation options are to blame. Our family, sponsored by Air Calvary and sent as approved Tentmakers with the Christian & Missionary Alliance, will be establishing the FIRST air ambulance service in the country of Gabon.
Meeting the Needs
The Air Ambulance service will be in partnership with the Bongolo Hospital. For the past 30 years, the BONGOLO HOSPITAL has been meeting the physical and spiritual needs of thousands of Africans as a remote jungle medical facility. It has grown from a simple dispensary to a 125 bed, multi-building campus treating everything from premature babies to eye surgeries and much, much, more. It's newest facility, an HIV-AIDS clinic, is due to open by mid-2007. Air transport to this hard-to-reach, progressive medical complex is essential to facilitate visiting teams of work teams, short-term & long-term missionaries, teaching medical professionals, and, most importantly, the hurt and dying people in need of a emergency care.
